Troubleshooting the Blowers:

Blowers Keep Running

When you turn off your Whitfield stove, both blowers should continue operating during the cool-down cycle until the low-limit switch shuts them down. If the blowers don’t stop running, the low-limit switch is likely stuck in the closed position. To diagnose the issue:

  1. Bypass the switch or use a multimeter to check for voltage.
  2. Inspect the stove’s wiring for any frayed or broken connections.
  3. If the issue persists, the control board may need to be repaired or replaced.

Blowers Not Running

The convection fan should always run at a speed equal to or higher than the fuel feed rate to ensure proper operation. If the blowers don’t turn on when the stove starts:

  1. Check for power to the stove.

  2. Inspect the wiring connections between the high-limit snap switch and the terminal block.

  3. If the wires are intact, bypass the high-limit switch:

    • Unplug the stove to avoid shorting the control board.
    • Use a jumper wire or paperclip to connect the two contacts on the switch.
    • Plug the stove back in. If this resolves the issue, replace the high-limit switch.
  4. If bypassing the switch doesn’t fix the problem, the blower motor may be faulty. Bench test the blower by connecting it to wall power. If the impeller spins rapidly upon connection, the motor is functioning.

If the blower and high-limit switch pass inspection, the control board is the likely culprit and may need repair or replacement.

Maintenance Note

For some Whitfield models, lubricate the combustion blower motor every six months of continuous operation if the motor has oil ports. Use synthetic bearing oil, such as Anderol 465, as recommended by Fasco, the motor manufacturer. If the convection fan motor emits a screeching sound, it’s time for a replacement.

By following these steps, you can troubleshoot blower issues effectively and keep your Whitfield stove running efficiently.
